OELA hosted the 2013 National Professional Development Directors Meeting on March 4th and 5th. The meeting was held at the U.S. Department of Education, LBJ Auditorium. The one and half day meeting included panel presentations, demonstration of STEM science kit experiments aimed at teaching ELs literacy and academic language, and small group interactive discussions related to professional development topics. Participants had opportunities to share information on professional development best practices, effective use of data, and improving performance reporting and evaluation. The sessions were designed to enhance all aspects of professional development activities carried out by grantees in order to improve instructional strategies used by teachers of English learners.
