| Abstract: | This report summarizes the information submitted to the U.S. Department of Education, Office for Bilingual Education and Minority Languages Affairs (OBEMLA) by State Educational Agencies (SEAs) in the Survey of States' Limited English Proficient Students and Available Educational Programs and Services (SEA Survey) for the 1995-96 school year. The explicit purpose of the annual SEA Survey is to collect information on the number of limited English proficient (LEP) students in the various states and outlying territories and jurisdictions and the educational services provided or available to them. Survey responses were received from 55 states or jurisdictions (Pennsylvania and West Virginia, amongst the states did not participate, while the Marshall Islands, Palau and Wake, amongst the outlying territories did not participate). |
